Surge In Coronavirus Cases In Boston’s Homeless Population ‘More Dramatic Than We Anticipated’

That’s a headline in Boston today. I have to ask: More than WHO anticipated? Everyone I know recognized the extreme vulnerability of people who stay in crowded shelters and on the street, most of whom have other health problems, none of whom have consistent access to places to wash hands, many of whom are in and out of other crowded facilities such as jails and hospitals, etc.  And now millions of dollars will be spend on high tech medical interventions, hospital staff will struggle to provide care to people who have multiple, complicated conditions, and here in Boston hundreds will suffer and die due to the toxic mix of COVID-19 and homelessness.
